A variety of efficient powertrain combinations gives Malibu customers choices that all return excellent fuel economy, including a new four-cylinder/six-speed automatic transmission combination that was recently added to the lineup.

It is powered by a high-tech l 2.4L Ecotec engine which is paired with a specially calibrated six-speed automatic transmission that deliver EPA-estimated mileage of 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway. That is said to be better highway mileage than Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. There is also a Malibu Hybrid available. It is the most affordable hybrid version of a mid size sedan in the market. It delivers 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on highways, without being the most expensive.
