GM Urges More Hydrogen Stations

FOR RELEASE: 2008-04-02

Rapid Progress on Fuel Cell Vehicles Needs to Be Matched With Rapid Progress on Hydrogen Fueling

SACRAMENTO, CA – General Motors today called on the energy industry and governments to step up and help automakers make volume production of fuel cell-electric vehicles a reality by opening more hydrogen fueling stations.

While speaking at the National Hydrogen Association’s annual conference in Sacramento, California, Mr. Larry Burns, General Motors vice president, research & development and strategic planning emphasized that fuel cell vehicles are fun to drive and are practical and efficient. He also made it clear that it is the responsibility of this generation to start taking steps towards widely distributing these new vehicles and not wait to pass the responsibility to the next generation. He said that hydrogen fuel- cells can be made from a broad range of renewable and sustainable energy products and making the fueling stations widespread and available is something that the government needs to get involved in.
